AKU KENAI MANGKOK BLOGGER UMNO YANG MINUM ARAK NIH...

Scramble for power

The first time i heard this sentence was during my history classes in sixth form. Those  day unlike today syllabus ,history  syllabus was very comprehensive ,detailed and include history from every corner of the world.Especially British history and the history of the British empire.
The part that is still etched in my memory is the those topics concerning the antics of the British and Europeans power in their effort at colonising the continent of Africa and the African nations very much as thinly guise ,as effort of the NATO in libya today. Can you really believe it is really for the embattled, libyans rebels  that the whole NATO force is shelling an aiming at Gadaffi's stronghold? or is it the the control of the oil field that they are after? If they are really there for humanitarian reasons, then where were they when the serbs were massacring the Bosnians? How much later did they arrive?
Oh oh but i digress, what i am after really is much nearer home. The SARAWAK state election which is due  soon. Thus the same mad scramble of power begins..and it is going to be very interesting to watch the whole "show".The BN led by the incumbent CM have been in control for over 30 years.Quite the same number of years that Mubarak have been in power in Egpyt, the similarity doesn't end there. Just as the Mubarak's family plundered egypt so did Taib s & Co (plus indon Bomoh n bomohs) plundered sarawak.Rumours is heard that his n family accumulated ill-gotten wealth n fortune is  millions and millions stashed away in every banks vaults of the world.Couln't be just rumour i guess judging by the size of the cobucon rubies jeweleries that adorned his young arabian bride recently. He is purported to be richer than the oil-rich sultan of Brunei.Well if so, what so suprising about that? considering Sarawak is one of the richest state in Malaysia with unfortunately the poorest and perhap one of the most backward  states of the country, top only with the unenviable record of having the highest cost of living in Malaysia.
And so it was for more than 5o years everyone past us by.The BN could not care less as they are well  aware of  and assured of victory for every election that took place, again much the same as in the case of Mubarak's Egpyt, with nary a protest,It  become a sickening joke that even if  the BN's candidate was a gorilla they would still win hand down.Untill PRU 12. ...and now  suddenly every one is wide awake..suddenly us Sarawakians who had been "the step-children" quite overnight become the 'blue-eyed boy" courted and cajole he he as a shy bride by both the BN and the PR.
We did protested before by voting 'bebas" candidate, unfortunately those turn-coats could not resisted the lure of ringgit and power it seemed. So it back to square one for us the rakyats of the kampungs ,the longhouses, the squatters. It up to us to make end meets. The road is not passable due to landslide and the rain ? Too bad!The water supply the color of milo? well just save up and buy water filter!  No public transports from the ulu to the nearest town/city to sell your products or to bring of the sicks and the dying to the hospitals? well not my business really, aren't there 'pirate 'taxis around? and if you still cannot make it ,too bad,not my concern really.I just want your vote come election time ,u silly people.
So it election time again, time for us to decide n choose who are to be the next idiots /pirates to rob us blind? Are we ready to make the changes or are we just ready to go back to sleep and let the world goes by and let the goons goes their merry way laughing to the banks ,London ,Paris,Monaco ect while we ,our children and the next generation languish in never ending poverty ,devoid of opportunities and rob of our heritage? Just look around us and compare our lots with the rest of the country? Just look at the ever rocketing prices of the goods and sundry at the locals markets.Who really CARE for us the little " people? our customary right land which our ancestors curved out of the jungle, which they had toiled and fought and died for is gone..to the plantations from nowhere..yet we are the people of this land..the forest is gone..the trees, the valuable timber. The land itself is gone..think of the Bakun? do we really benefit or is it just a white elephant to enrich those pirate and their cronies? who? your guess are as good as mine.Just remember each of us had one vote.ONE very  valuable vote.Think carefully before you cast it.For its not just for the state that you are casting those votes  but also for the future and the survival of the nation. That is of course unless you prefer to keep the 'status quo' or take to the streets ...again as the Egyptians did !
